HTC One M9 ditches duo camera and keeps dazzling design

After months of speculation, leaks and rumours the HTC One M9 has finally been uncovered during a special event at MWC 2015. The natural successor to the One M8, the One M9 builds on the five-star smartphone in a number of ways.

Those familiar with both the M8 and the original One will notice the One M9 has merged the design of both handsets - and it looks good, with its new coloured sidewalls providing a more distinctive design.
One of the big changes, however, is found on the back, where the Duo Camera setup from the One M8 has been dumped in favour of a single 20MP snapper.
It's not the end of HTC's ultrapixel dream though, as the M8's main 4UP camera now resides on the front of the One M9, providing solid low light performance for those all important selfies.

One M9

Louder, faster, longer lasting

You'll find the same 5-inch, full HD display on the One M9, while the front facing Boomsound speakers have been given an injection of Dolby Audio technology.
HTC tells us this will give you richer, louder beats - both from the internal speakers and anything plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack.
One screen the One M9 is rocking Android 5.0 Lollipop and HTC's latest user interface Sense 7. It's focussed on customisation, and there's a new Themes Editor application to help you apply that personal touch to your device.
Storage fans will be glad to hear the One M9 keeps hold of its microSD port to go with the 32GB of internal storage, plus there's 100GB of free Dropbox for two years for anyone who picks up the handset.
Under the hood Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810 processor is in charge of running the show with 3GB of RAM to play with, and the battery size has been boosted to 2800mAh. We hope the increase equals more usage between chargers.
You'll be able to pick up the HTC One M9 in three colour combinations, gold on silver, gun metal on grey and gold on gold, with a global release date of March 31 set for various (but yet to be confirmed) global markets.
Select partners will have the handset available for pre-order from March 9. Unlocked and Developer Editions of the HTC One M9 will also be available from via htc.com come March 31.
One M9

HTC One M9 - the new features

1. More compact, lighter

Measuring 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61mm, the HTC One M9 is more compact, yet slightly thicker than the One (M8), which clocks in at 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35mm. Additionally, the new entrant weighs 157gr, while the One (M8) tipped the scales at 160gr.

2. Dual-finish design

The HTC One M9 comes with a dual-finish body, which means that the front and the rear are flashing different colors

3. A faster chipset

The HTC One (M8) came with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset inside, but the One M9 is equipped with a newer and faster Qualcomm-made chip - the Snapdragon 810. The latter, as you probably know, is an octa-core 64-bit silicon - a perfect match for the 64-bot capable Android on board.

4. More RAM = better multitasking

We get 3GB of RAM inside the HTC One M9, an improvement over the 2GB inside the previous iteration of the One flagship family. Well, the device is not a 4GB beast, but the amount of memory inside HTC's 2015 representative would most probably cater to the whims of 90% of all users.

5. A 20MP camera at the rear

HTC has fortunately nixed the under-performing UltraPixel camera that graced the backs of both the One (M7)/One (M8) and opted for a larger one, a respectable 20MP shooter. The UltraPixel camera of the HTC One (M8) had its merits, but it was generally under-performing compared to the competition. The new 20MP rear camera will potentially put it in the league of the big Android boys. In particular, it has an f/2.2 aperture, a 27.8mm lens, allows you to record 4K video, and has a protective sapphire lens coating.

6. An UltraPixel selfie shooter

The One M9 secured a respectably-sounding 20Mp rear camera, but the UltraPixel one is still here to stay. It's on the front and will take care of your selfies. Specs-wise, the camera has an f/2.0 aperture, a 26.8mm lens, and will shoot a 1080p should you require it to do so.

7. A bigger, 2,840mAh battery

The HTC One (M8) boasted a 2,600mAh battery at the back, but its successor amps up this capacity to 2,840mAh. Paired with a more energy-efficient hardware and software, the One M9 will most probably outclass the One (M8) in terms of battery life.

8. HTC Sense UI with Android 5.0 Lollipop

The HTC One M9 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Naturally, it comes with HTC's Sense UI running atop.

9. Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX

HTC's new flagship comes with Bluetooth 4.1 on board. In addition, the aptX audio-centric codec is supported, which is greatly improving the overall quality of the streaming audio quality.

I look at this world from various perspectives every new day, and a million thoughts rush to my mind at once. I am awed by many miracles brought about by science and technology. Then again, I am ashamed of the destruction the same scientific and technological knowledge brings into this world. I am amazed at the depth of philosophy and the beauty of fine arts and performing arts. On the other hand, I condemn the narrow mindedness of our people who set books ablaze and organize riots in the name of religion and God.

My heart shatters into a million pieces as I take in the sight of all the goodness struggling to escape the dark forces of the world. But my brain urges me to think. And I smile as I slowly comprehend the simple truth. The good and the bad in this world are products of our minds. They are all our creations. The natural elements are mere spectators in this land where humans have the power to either prosper or perish. It is with these thoughts in my head that I wonder what I would build if I could recreate this world... make a whole new world...

I would start with the very beginning. My first priority would be to sensitize toddlers and school children to the environment and their fellow beings. I would ensure that "Tolerance" is a subject taught in every school. When the same kids grow up into adults, politicians, businessmen and farmers, we would have a world that respects nature and all life forms. With increasing tolerance, the need to restrict travel would reduce. This would obviate the need for visas to travel across countries. Imagine the kind of freedom we would have if we could take a plane to anywhere and learn about the indigenous people there! The world would live as a giant family. Perhaps we would then understand the true meaning of "vasudhaiva kutumbakam".

I know my world is utopian. But what is utopia today, may just be reality tomorrow! That is the power of thought. But the power sustains only if implemented.

HTC M9 Smartphone Official Specifications and Features

The Mobile World Congress 2015 happening today in Barcelona is already raising hits and major smartphone manufacturers are going to be unveiling some cool stuffs; HTC has already started by taking the wraps off their flagship device HTC M9 and the specifications and features are very juicy, in fact the future of HTC M9 is very good. Below we present to you all the specs released for the HTC M9 smartphone.

Design
Design is very important in today's world of smartphone. You can't have a phone looking like a turaya phone even with great specs and expect it to sell especially seeing how smartphones are becoming fashion accessories. The HTC M9 has a well flushed body and has dimensions 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.6mm and weighs just 157g.

SIM and Network
The HTC M9 will come with a nano, single SIM card slot with support for GSM, HSPA and LTE network technology.

Display
The HTC M9 will come with a super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen, 16 million colors seen through the 5.0 inch, 1080 x 1920 pixels (441 PPI) display. Not only that, it also comes with the scratch resistant sapphire glass for extra screen durability.

Operating System and Chip
HTC M9 comes with Android Lollipop 5.0.x right from the box and that is what we expect with the HTC sense 7.0 UI on top of it. Again, we really like the fact that the phone has a Qualcomm MSM8994 snapdragom 810 chip with combines quad core 1.5GHz cortex A53 and quad core 2.0GHz cortex A57 processor - hence, HTC M9 is an octa core processor smartphone with an Adreno 430 as its GPU.

Memory
HTC M9 comes with a 3GB RAM and a 32GB internal memory with an SD card slot that supports up to 128GB memory card.  This is to make sure that you don't complain of space on your device especially seeing how more people are now storing their files in the cloud.

Camera
Camera on smartphones is swiftly trying to catch up with professional cameras. The camera on the HTC M9 is very powerful and will also in many number of cases will produce images that will be at par with professional cameras with little or no tweaking with its 2.0 µm pixel size, f/2.0 and ultra wide angle lens that allows 300% more light in for a perfect picture.

The HTC M9 comes with a 20.7 mega pixel BSI technology back camera with images as high as 5376 x 3752 pixels. It also has auto-focus, dual LED (dual tone) flash. For video recording, it has a automatic simultaneous video and image recording with geo tagging, HDR, panorama and face/smile detection.

Video can be recorded at 2100p @30fps, 1080p @60fps and 720p @120fps.

The front camera is 5.0 mega pixel and can take HDR pictures and videos at 1080p @30fps.

Connectivity
As you may have expected, the device comes with WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band, WiFi direct, DLNA and hotspot features. Bluetooth v4.1, A2DP and apt-X. Furthermore it comes with the standard microUSB v2.0 (MHL 3.0 TV-out), USB host, NFC, infrared port and FM Radio with RDS.

Sensors
The usual suspects when it comes to sensors are accelerometer, gyro, light and compass. The HTC M9 has them all and of course they will all come in handy when they are needed.

Battery
HTC M9 comes with a non-removable LiPo ion 2840mAh battery with up to 400h of standby time and 25hr of talk time. The fact its non removable may not go well with some folks but that is what you get with the new HTC M9.

Other features
With the HTC M9 home screen icon will change accordingly to your location to reflect apps that you use most frequently in that location. Sound is even better than the predecessor M8.

It also has java bundled via Java MIDP emulator. It has Fast battery charging: 60% in 30 min (Quick Charge 2.0). Other features include:
- Google Drive (100 GB cloud storage)
- Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic
- DivX/XviD/MP4/H.264/WMV player
- MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV/FLAC player
- Document editor
- Photo/video editor.
- GPS, AGPS,
- Valve virtual reality technology headset specifically for the M9

HTC One M9 will be available starting from the middle of march and would be available in four different colors: Silver, gun metal grey, pink and gold and no word on pricing yet.

I believe a lot of people would be pleased with their HTC M9 once it gets to their hands. What are your thoughts about the M9 especially with the new HTV vive?

Samsung unveils Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge at MWC

March 2, 2015: Samsung, the Korean Giant, is the top phone maker in the world, probably in Nepal too. The Korean firm though being the top first handset maker, has lost significant sales volumes in the year 2014. There are many thoughts who forced them to come up with new innovations in whole range of phones to keep the top spot, as the competition is now rife with Apple standing firm (with iPhone 6 sales) and rise of Chinese firms like Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei for cheaper mid range and Flagship devices. Samsung has upped the ante by unveiling the two awaited flagships: Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in an unpacked event at this years MWC (Mobile world Congress).

The two devices are of similar high end specs with all the features that make it flagship, but S6 edge is having the curved edge, fewer grams lighter and higher battery capacity. Samsung S6 is a 5.1 inch all metal phone powered by 64 bit Exynos octacore processor (two quadcore of 2.1 GHz and 1.5 GHz), having 3GB RAM (DDR4) and latest version of OS (Android 5.02). The 5.1 screen is of Super Amoled technology having bright and vivid display, with higher QHD resolution (2560 X1440, 577 ppi) as compared to its predecessor S5. Both the devices are sported with better and faster 16 MP rear and 5 MP front camera, having superior quality images (even in low light), along with features like Auto Real Time HDR, Smart OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), and IR detect White Balance, which is more enhanced by the direct access "quick launch" feature. Apart from the high end feature, Samsung has focused on the design and looks, being impressed from similar metal smartphones (like iPhone 6). The Glass encase both in the front and back has Corning Gorilla Glass 4, making it look premium and feel comfy. Additionally the curved edges on both sides in S6 edge makes it look different (appealing to many but not to me) and the first smartphone to have like that (Others to follow suit?? depends on how it sells in the market). Some of the features that disappeared with this new flagships are the non-removable battery/back, water resistant feature and microSD card slot, that may disappoint many. Though rumor is also something resulting most of it to be true, the removal of Samsung touch wiz happens to be false.

I feel the battery capacity of 2550 mAh (2600 mAh in Edge) seems to be insufficient for such LTE enabled flagship but their better power efficient and fast charging technology, needs to be proven from public to back up. The phone also supports wireless charging feature that is available in the industry, promoting it to be universal from now on. Quick Contact in the edge is one of the new features for the S6 edge for some tricks. The phones comes in basic storage of 32 GB, along with 64 GB and 128 GB variant. The phones are known to be available on sales from April 10th with price ranging from USD 800 to 900 ( NRs 80,000 to 90,000) but the official prices are not yet out. With the phones, Samsung has also launched new payment platform "Samsung pay" to counter Apple pay and Google wallet.
With the specs, looks and reviews from pundits, the S6 and S6 Edge keeps Samsung alive for the competition in the high end market (wary of premium looks and features) but need some more innovation to compete with the cheaper Chinese firms.

My Father - My Strength

It is not Father's Day today, but I'm still going to go ahead tell you how wonderful my father is. He has been my pillar of strength and source of wisdom since the day I was born.

When I was a toddler, my dad would carry me in his arms and take me to street bazaars and children's parks. He would never tire of picking me up and propping me atop the slide so I could enjoy sliding down numerous times. It was my dad who would see me and my sister off to the school bus every morning. He would always hold our hands when we crossed roads. I asked him one day why he held our hands, and he told me that he would not get to hold our hands and help us cross once we grew up. He wanted to cherish these moments as long as he could.

My father taught me how to draw and paint. He is a talented artist himself! Whichever drawing competition I have won until now (and I have won many), I have won because of my dad. He would spend many hours each day before the drawing competitions and teach me how to draw, what to draw, and how to paint well. My father always encouraged me to participate in all sorts of competitions, be it debate, painting, extempore, math or science. He would go the extra mile to show us how and why we should go the extra mile. All the medals I have won, the exams I have topped, and the accolades I have received are thanks to my father's guidance. My dad taught me how to have a balance in life. He would encourage us to play after we studied for a few hours.

My father also taught me to be self reliant. He would give me pocket money in school so I could learn to manage my own finances. I bought my first big bicycle - a magenta Atlas Ladybird, with the money I had saved up in my piggy bank. His teachings have been very valuable to me all through my life! I would never run out of cash in college when my classmates were perpetually broke. I see the biggest result now - I have a seven-figure bank balance in less than three years of being in the corporate world. I have learnt that savings is not a factor of your income, but of your attitude towards money. Many of my better paid friends have negligible net worth due to  lack of money management skills.

My father has also taught me the value of humility. The thought that my parents are well heeled never entered my mind as my upbringing has been simple. My father has always provided me for my needs. And for everything else, he has given me the education and skillset that will help me fulfill all my desires.

I owe everything I am to my father. And, I love him more than everything else in the world.
